Hi - my name is Sebastian! Nice to see you here.

I am from Germany and grew up in the county of Rosenheim, which is just about 40km south of Munich. It’s a lovely area with mountains and lakes that allow you to enjoy the outdoors in many ways. And if you’re tired of the region, it’s only a 3.5 h drive to the north of Lago di Garda in Italy or 5 hours to the northwest coast of Croatia.

I recently (2024-03-01) started a new position as a stand-in professor at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Rosenheim (THR). I did my Ph.D. at the Technische Hochschule Nuernberg (THN) in cooperation with the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU).

I am an academic late bloomer and only picked up my Bachelor’s studies in Business Informatics at age 26. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in 2016 I continued to do my Master’s in Computer Science in 2018 and directly started working towards my Ph.D..

I love hiking and other outdoor-related activities. Besides hiking, I enjoy bouldering and rock climbing in the gym as well as outdoors to balance all the computer related stuff and recharge my batteries. I like to travel as often as my time allows it, even if it’s just for a couple of days. Some of my favorite spots can be found in southeast Asia and northern Italy. Traveling is a big inspiration to me as a foodie, as it allows me to try new food and drinks and motivating me to cook new dishes myself. Good conversations with family and friends, while sharing a glass of wine, whisky, or beer makes me particularly happy.
